So things have been hectic!  Who knew everything would take so much time…it is amazing.

So we had to go register me and Mira into the country. According to Indian immigration laws anyone with a visa valid for longer than 180 days has to register within 2 weeks of entering the country. So Bala went to stand in line at 9 am. I picked up Mira from School at 11 am and got to that place around 12:30pm (notice the travel time…haha). By that time Bala had taken a number, given them our application (which by the way was 2 full written pages for each, they needed 4 copies, and they could not be a photocopy – yeahhhh imagine the fun of writing all this!!!), filled out the information online and gone and seen around 15 people that all wrote the information from the applications in different books (don“t understand why everything is written in books here….why isn“t it enough to write it in the database??). It was just amazing. The process is so inefficient – why do you need to write it down so often, why do you have to see so many people? I think Deloitte needs to do a business process review on this J.  They had said that Mira and I had to be in person – we show up and this lady comes and sees us in the waiting room (just peeks through her door). Bala goes into the office and comes out once in a while to run and get photocopies etc (which in the end they gave back to us along with all the applications – so why ask for all this) and then an hour later he comes out and says – it’s done and we can go. Ok…I was happy about that but didn“t they need to verify who I was or Mira or at least talk to me? Obviously not – they never checked if I was the right person! Oh well…what do I care…at least I got registeredJ.

The apt is not yet ready. Things move at a snail pace here. We went yesterday to look at it and the paint is done but they need to fix the finish (they are not very detail oriented). Also the furniture is coming along – but it is being build in our house (nothing store bought!!).

Sunday we went for a walk in a park next to the hotel. Of course Mira fell right away and got some scratches on her knee which were bleeding a little bit (all very minor). I decided to take her back to the hotel to wash it as her legs became very dirty when she fell. When we were going through security at the hotel (yes we have to go through a metal detector and have our bags scanned for bombs) Mira showed the security guard the scratch! OMG – he walked with us inside, pulled out his walkie talkie, and before I know it there are 2 guards with us, one lady from the hotel and a full blown First Aid Kit! I could not believe it. The made Mira sit and then she was cleaned and band aid applied in all the different places. She was very happy with this attention…haha.
